The design is expected to be completed by the end of December this year. After that, construction should follow pending contractor workload. Construction will typically be 3-4 months for this type of project.

HAWK (High-Intensity Activated CrossWalk)
Signals along Washington/Westcott
March 19, 2026:
HAWKs will also be installed at Westcott/Durford and Washington/Durford
February 27, 2027:
Great news Camp Logan neighbors!
I spoke with Sherry Weesner (President of Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority, MHRA) this morning, and she informed me that the MHRA has received a work authorization from the COH to have Quiddity Engineering design and then install (or work on installing) a HAWK at the Westcott/Schuler and Washington/Schuler intersections! Quiddity is the civil engineering firm hired by MHRA in early 2025 to do a traffic study on the Westcott/Washington stretch. See below for more information about the work MHRA and Quiddity have been doing. A HAWK is a High-Intensity Activated crossWalk.
For a little bit of history: I reached out to Sherry in June 2024 about working with the MHRA on getting a HAWK installed somewhere along Westcott in between the roundabout and I-10. After sending her lots of photos, and following up every couple months regarding the traffic study and the COH's response to the traffic study, success is finally on the horizon! In terms of timing, we are hoping that installation of the HAWK will happen by year-end 2026 or early 2027.
So a huge shout-out to Sherry for all her work on pushing this across the finish line!
